The therapeutic process

What happens in sessions?

You do not need to arrive with a perfect explanation, a diagnosis, or certainty that BWRT® is the right option.

Step by step

A straightforward, individual process.

01

Talk first

A free introductory conversation of up to 30 minutes gives you a chance to ask questions and briefly explain what is happening.

02

Assessment

We explore relevant background, health considerations, your current difficulty and what you would like to be different. The standard assessment lasts approximately 90 minutes.

03

Agree an approach

If working together seems appropriate, we discuss therapeutic options, including whether BWRT® should form part of the work.

04

Review progress

We consider any changes in ordinary life and adjust or reconsider the approach where necessary. There is no fixed promise of sessions or outcomes.

During an appointment

What you do — and what you don't need to do.

BWRT® work normally involves a guided sequence of conscious mental exercises. You remain awake and able to communicate with me throughout.

It is not generally necessary to recount every detail of a painful experience. However, we still need enough background and assessment information to work responsibly and safely. Confidentiality applies within the limits explained in the privacy notice and therapy terms.

If an issue requires medical assessment, safeguarding support or a different form of treatment, we will address that rather than simply proceed with BWRT®.

A simple first step

Begin with a conversation.

Tell me a little about what you would like to be different. The introductory conversation is free and there is no obligation to continue.
